Walking Boot/Cast
15 Replies

I am considering trying the walking boot/cast on one foot for my PF. The doc I saw today suggested doing a cortisone shot first, then going into the boot. Has anyone had success with this treatment? Continue

You may remember that last summer my new podiatrist had me spend 8 weeks in a hard (fiberglass) cast, tip of my toes to just below my knee, the whole time non weight bearing on crutches. A new cast was applied every 2 weeks with more dorsiflexion of my foot forced and maintained by each new cast. I was not too enthusiastic about the treatment after spending the previous summer in the d@mned boot but I was at my wit's end, looking at surgery as my next step.

My results were encouraging but I stayed away until now from commenting on the PF Community site for fear that my relief was only temporary. But it worked! For the last 12 months I have been relatively pain free. I still wear the night splint (most nights) and am careful with my shoe selection, but I am back to normal activities and running! It’s like I got my life back!

How are you doing now? Have you found something that helps your PF issues?
