I had bad p-f in both feet, the right being the worst.  In June I tripped over a sprinkler in my yard, with my foot taped also wearing hiking boots.  I felt a searing pain in the center of my right…Continue

Barb replied to Patricia Davis's discussion Has anyone really tried ultrasound or the inferno wrap from AidMyPlantar? Celebrex?
"Celebrex is an anti-inflammatory drug, sort of like Ibuprofen/Advil, except stronger. I would take it with meals and consider adding zantac or another tummy pill. I have read the inferno wrap's claims while I was sitting at my computer with a…"

"It sounds either like retrocalcaneal bursitis/hoglunds or achilles tendinitis. On the other hand, with my p-f, I sometimes get pain that creeps up the sides of my heel. If some gentle stretching helps I would point more to tendinitis. If there is a…"

explanation of photo

I decided to make my own night splint, before I fell and things got really bad.
I took a bicycle rack with a spring loaded arm that is designed to hold one's items on the rack. I opened up the spring loaded arm and taped a sandal with a superfoot arch support on it to the thing. I padded the other part of the rack with foam and white polyester pillow stuffing. Then, I opened up the spring loaded arm, strapped my foot into the sandal, secured my calf onto it with a neoprene/velcro wrap. The spring forced my foot into dorsiflexion, but I needed more, so I added a bungee cord, hooking it onto the toe section and wrapping it around the back of the metal frame by my calf and ending up with the second hook at the toe section.

It worked. But, it also made my toes go numb. I was only able to wear it when I was on my computer and only for an hour or so at a time. It was a good try, but definitely not a substitute for proper medical equipment.

By the way, I tried a night splint, one of the ones that goes on the dorsal/top of the foot. I would call it a waste of money. I'm glad I only spent $8 on it.
