Plantar Fasciitis

Support Group & Health Community

I have been suffering with plantar fasciitis since August 2009. Currently, my podiatrist has not found the greatment protocol that eliminates my pain. My right foot hurts all day long, every day. I have been on muscle relaxers, anti-inflammatories, had physical therapy, still do my stretches, rub my foot over the frozen ice hand granade every night, sleep with the boots on and still no relief. I have also been on oral steroids with no relief.

My doctor is going to try some type of blood infusion next week that is a fairly new procedure. After that, if I am still suffering, he will proceed with steroid shots and possibly surgery.

What are my chances that the surgery will work? Will I ever be able to start walking for exercise again? The pain begain after I exercised which is speed walking, two days in a row, five miles each day. I usually walk 4 - 5 miles 3 - 4 times a week. Since August, I have not even been able to wear proper shoes because of the pain over the top of my foot. I do not have heel pain; the pain is in the location of the soft pad, just below the big toe, top and bottom of the foot.

I would appreciate any comments/suggestions. I am also considering a second opinion before I agree to the surgery.

Thank you.
