The Plantar Fasciitis Community Will Help
Good Afternoon,
I have been dealing with this heal pain for close to a year now. They say that I have Plantar Fasciitis. But from what I have been reading I am not sure. Really need the opinion of some that actually have this.
From what I have read, the pain seems to get better on most people after they are up and moving... if mine is going to hurt it get worse. We were on a trip last year in Europe and were walking 7 or 8 miles a day, by the end of the day it felt like someone was jabbing steak knives into my heel. There was NO getting better with walking.
I also get sharp pain on the sides of my heel. Some days my foot does not really hurt at all.
I am at a loss and now they want to do the surgery, but like others I have read that sometimes it just makes things worse.
Any thoughts
Thank you
J

Perhaps this is the same for you. I did have the surgery, just about 3 months ago, after months and months of bad pain and unsuccessful treatments (2 rounds of PT, shots, orthotics, lidocaine patches, stretches, exercise, acupuncture). It has helped me immensely, but not everybody has such good results. I had an endoscopic plantar fascia release.

Did you have pain on the sides of your heels... sometimes in the evening when I am just sitting there I will get these horrible pains on the sides of my heel.
Permalink Reply by Caroline Hall on January 23, 2012 at 1:42pm My pain was the worst when I got into bed, levels of 8-9, 10 being the worst. I took prescription pain medication before bed for months or I could never get to sleep with the pain being what it was. My feet would hurt during the day too, but I could usually ignore it (or ice it) . If I went to Costco or any place where I did a lot of walking on hard surfaces, then my feet would hurt. Even taking walks around my street made my feet hurt. You don't want to see Europe with your feet killing-Historic sites, beautiful old cities and museums, and small villages aren't made for walking around with sore feet (or sore knees-my sister lives in the Azores and I went there a few weeks before a planned knee replacement-I took a folding cane with me-but at that point, my feet weren't hurting yet---after that surgery, they did, and the next knee replacement=which ended with me getting the surgery on my foot). I had pain not just on the arch of my foot, but at the bases of my toes. I also got pains on the ankle side of my foot. I got pains also at the ends of the arches of my foot. It was miserable. I iced before bed, many times I ended up icing at 2AM because the pain medication barely made a dent in the pain, and my husband would have to give me a foot massage at 3AM. I also used (and still use) an anti-inflammatory medication for my arthritis-something my foot ortho would've put me on if I weren't already on it for the arthritis) as well as a homeopathic anti-inflammatory cream I would slather on the spots that hurt.
