Is physiotherapy effective in treating Plantar Fasciitis?

My younger brother is always engaged in sports and other physical activities. He had to take a break from the daily activities due to some illness. Now, he started practicing again and has started going to the gym. He had severe body pain after these and we had to consult a doctor. On diagnosis, it was found that he was suffering from plantar fasciitis. I have read a blog ( http://www.physionow.ca/blog/general-category/plantar-fasciitis/ ) that physiotherapy treatment is effective in treating this condition. Have you guys ever heard about this? Is there anybody over here who has undergone such a treatment?

Yes, I agree with everything in the article you shared.  As I've seen, everyone has to find their own recipe for healing with Plantar Fasciitis.  So, whatever stretches they teach him at physiotherapy, one of them most important things is for him to do those stretches and exercises everyday till he heals.  I found relief from some over the counter arch supports (http://www.soulinsole.com), these along with doing some stretching and massaging my feet a little bit every day seems to keep my plantar fasciitis away.

I'm new to researching plantar so forgive my ignorance. But I keep seeing mixed information online with stretching. Some websites show it as like you say integral for healing. But others have said it should be avoided as it can lead to reinjury?
