Plantar Fasciitis

The Plantar Fasciitis Community Will Help

Hi, I had had PF for over 8 yrs. 5 or 6 yrs ago i went through the Ultrasonic Sonar treatment and it worked for about 4 yrs. The pain came back about 6 months ago and is getting much worse. The problem is i can not find anyone who has this machine anymore. I understand it is not covered by Insurance.

I have had the injections, the orthotics, even the nerve burn. but still no relief. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Garry - I have had this unbearable PF in both feet for almost 3 years . . . how did you do it for so long without cutting off your feet? What is the Ultrasonic Sonar treatment that worked so well for you for so long?

Sue
Sue it is called ESWT. you can find it through your search engine. i am almost at the point of turning my foot over and walking on the other side for awhile lol/
Let me know if you can't find the information on the Shockwave treatment i will get the link for you and send it.

Best Wishes
Garry
shock waves?
i have a question for you, is it true that ESWT worsen the pain at the begining of the treatment? how long does it take until the pain dissapear at all?
I didn't notice the pain being any worse. the recovery time is about 4-6 weeks but you are not left immobile.
I did the same thing i had been doing which was hobble around.
They do put you under light sedation for the treatment. It can be done in the Drs. off now.
i am still looking for a location that offers the treatment now.

YES, Don't let the name scare you off. Ultrasonic shockwave therpy.
They do have to sadate you during the treatment but it is lite and can be done in the Dr's office as an out patient.
I am still looking for someone who does it.

Hi Gary - Am I the baby in the group? I have ONLY had PF for 18 months but it has totally changed my life. I have been in physical therapy twice, 2 different types of orthodics and had ultrasound waves done. I've been told no barefooting ever again. I have not heard of ESWT. What I had done was like an ultrasound done for pregnant women without the pics.
if it were possible I would go through a foot transplant. Today i went shopping and i had to look for a place for sitting down after twenty minutes cause my feet were aching awfully. Standing up looking at clothes is a torture. What kind of life is this?. I am very upset.
Hi,
Have you tried pain meds? I am on hydrocodone. I only take one if I play golf or go shopping. I ice my foot down afterwards. I am always looking for a place to sit. I also take gabapentin. It is because one symtom is like nerve damage on the side of the foot near the little toes. Very hard to get shoes that don't hurt. Tried lots but Easy Spirit had sneakers that work with an added foam insert. Today I have started steroid pills. 7 day regiment. This is because my doc says the shots of steroids are painful. She is trying to find Dr. to do theSonar treatment.

I'm new to ther site, but not PF. Iv'e had it bad for 5 years and can stand up for 15 minutes at a time and not for an hour after, ona good day. Can someone explain what ESWT is. Is it the same as Cryogenic injections? Would be grateful for any help.
Thanks for the site
Nick

Hi Elizabeth - I have had this PF bilaterally for almost three years . . . I have been wearing Easy Spirit shoes also . . . they seem to be the most comfortable right now - not great - but certainly more comfortable than others I have tried and spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on - I was just wondering what type of Easy Spirit you are wearing?

Thanks, Sue

Hi Sue
I wear ES Romy. I have 3 pair. I have found if I get a wide that I can move my toes around and crimp them and let the balls of the feet lie absolutely flat that my feet don't hurt as much. I also now always wear thick socks for extra cushioning. Mr Dr. wants me to get heel cups from Dr. Scholl's but I can't find them. Supposedly they support the heels and ankles. Did you know that walking on concrete is terrible. Asphalt is better but grass is best.
