Plantar Fasciitis

The Plantar Fasciitis Community Will Help

So, while waiting for my right foot to get 100% (or as close to that as it will get..) I thought I would try something for my left. While it is nice to know the surgery is out there...damn, I am not in a hurry to do that again! The left has somewhat intermittent PF, although it has flared up recently, probably with me favoring the right foot. I had a doctor prescribe PT for me and made an appointment at a place that does ASTYM.

ASTYM is a massage technique where they use plastic tools to run along connective tissue, more or less gently. He also found and worked some trigger points in my calf. The session lasted about an hour, and the therapist was a pleasant fellow. Maybe it felt better when done? It is one of those things that, if it works, will only be determined after several sessions. I am to go twice a week for a total of nine sessions. They say it works 90% of the time, but as we know, 90% of PF cases resolve with conservative treatment of any type. So, we'll see...

I know people who have used it for excessive scar tissue in their knees following knee surgeries. It has helped them some more than others. It can be uncomfortable, from what I hear. FInding someone who does it is also difficult. You're lucky you found someone nearby.
